
Transnet has recorded a R7.3 billion loss for the current year, an increase from the R5 billion loss in 2023. The state-owned entity presented its annual financial results yesterday, also saying that Freight Rail has awarded contracts to three original equipment manufactures for restoring long standing rail locomotives, while efforts are under way to bring more locomotives back into service. For years, the entity has been facing many challenges, including leadership instability and aging infrastructure.
